YAPPIKA-ActionAid is a non-profit organization working to help build and protect civil society and promote human rights in Indonesia. In addition to advocacy and support, YAPPIKA-ActionAid also oversees several service programs both directly and with local partners that benefit underserved populations, including children and excluded minorities. Consultant - Business Development (Code: CBD)

 

Scope of Work


The Consultant will support YAPPIKA-ActionAid to increase institutional income by scoping and analysing existing donors nationally, regionally and internationally that aligns with the strategic objectives of YAPPIKA-ActionAid. The consultant will also support in identifying current funding trends for Indonesia, funding priorities and potential opportunities. He/She will provide support to YAPPIKA-ActionAid team in developing specific concept notes and proposals for Humanitarian and Resilience Programmes and facilitate in strengthening institutional donor relationships and engagement.


Contract Type: Short Term (start February ending December 2024)



Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Conduct a donor scoping exercise and analysis on institutional funding trends, priorities, and opportunities, as well as funding eligibility criteria relevant to YAPPIKA-ActionAid’s Programme Priority 1 on Gender Responsive and Inclusive Public Service and Programme Priority 4 on Humanitarian and Resilience.
  2. Provide technical support on concept notes and/or proposals development, including its budget proposals, based on YAPPIKA-ActionAid existing programmes and experience related to humanitarian and resilience.
  3. Engage and/or attend meetings/information sessions on development cooperation and humanitarian funding on behalf of YAPPIKA-ActionAid as required.
  4. Support the development of Donor Engagement strategy and fundraising plan.
  5. Support the organisation on bilateral meetings between YAPPIKA-ActionAid and identified institutional donors to introduce and present organisation profile and experience and proposed concept notes/proposals.

Deliverables and Level of Effort

It is expected that the consultancy will be carried out over a period of up to 33 days during February to December 2024 (an average of 3 days per month for 11 months).

 

Location of Work

Jakarta, with possibly travel to YAPPIKA-ActionAid programme sites if necessary. The Consultant can work remotely and will need to work at YAPPIKA-ActionAid office in Jakarta on request.

 

Qualifications 

  • Degree in related field.
  • Experience of working under pressure and managing multiple tasks to tight deadline across time zones and for a variety of internal and external audiences
  • Significant experience of multi-donor narrative and budget development
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, ability to inform and engage through written communication
  • Three or more years’ experience in business development, proposal development and grant management requirements in an NGO or development agency, including:
    • Research and contacts, developing strategic fundraising innovation ideas with an entrepreneurial spirit
    • Working with a wide range of donors
  • Three or more years’ experience of working in programmes teams or alongside them to ensure programme-led funding
  • Experience in intelligence analysis, identifying trends and using this information to make recommendations on approaches
  • A proven track record in managing and writing successful fundraising proposals for institutional donors such as EU, DFAT, GAC, USAID, FCDO, SIDA, NORAD, DANIDA, UN Agencies, Embassies, Start Fund, DEC, philanthropists, foundation, other development cooperation and humanitarian donors with ability to provide clear guidance on donor requirements and procedures to other staff
  • Good experience in developing proposal logical frameworks and budget preparation
  • Broad understanding of global social, gender and environmental justice debates and developments and how these pertain to institutional funding priorities
  • Experience in external engagements, influencing, networking and working with the wider humanitarian donor and fundraising sector
  • Experience of building skills and capabilities of other staff through training, mentoring, and coaching as well as developing materials.
